Polish-born concert violinist Aleksandra Labinska holds Doctorate in Violin Performance from Boston University, College of Fine Arts under the tutelage of Prof. Yuri Mazurkevich. She has performed concerts in Canada, France, Netherlands, China, Japan,Germany, Poland, Belgium, Austria and the United States. Aleksandra has received numerous awards including Ronald P. Matheson Award (Banff Centre for the Arts), David and Marcia Beach Summer Study Award, Felix Galimir Chamber Music Excellence Award (University of Toronto), Nick Gelmych Violin Award (University of Toronto) and Honorable Mention at Boston University Bach Competition.
Aleksandra has appeared as a soloist with Mooredale Concerto Players in Toronto, and Ostinato Chamber Orchestra in Poland. She has participated in numerous festivals including Banff Center Music Festival, Toronto Summer Music Academy and Festival, International Bach Festival with Helmuth Rilling at University of Toronto, Lancut International Music Courses In Poland, InCite Boston University Festival in New York City, St. Lawrence String Quartet Chamber Music Seminar at Stanford University, Castleton Music Festival in Virginia under the direction of Maestro Lorin Maazel and AIMS festival in Graz, Austria. Her concert activities have taken her to Boston Symphony Hall, Shanghai City Theater, the Kennedy Center (Washington DC), New York Town Hall, Amsterdam’s Concertgebow, Stefaniensaal in Austria, and Roy Thomson Hall (Toronto). Recently she has toured mainland China with the Mirage Violin Duo, Southern Japan with the Boston Chamber Orchestra in cities such as Fukuoka, Kumamoto, Oita, Hoshinomura and others. She has had the opportunity to play for high profile artists such as the Berlin Philharmonic String Quartet, Mihaela Martin, Philip Setzer, Christian Tetzlaff, Brentano String Quartet, Borromeo String Quartet, Muir String Quartet, Lara St. John, Roman Totenberg, Xie Nan, Dana Mazurkevich, Erika Raum, and Jacques Israelevich. Aleksandra has played under prominent conductors including Krzysztof Penderecki, Colin Metters, Lorin Maazel, Richard Bradshaw, Raffi Armenian, Bramwell Tovey, Agnes Grossman, Alexander Kalajdzic, and Gunther Schuller.
Aleksandra is an advocate for new music hence her collaboration with Alea III ensemble and Boston Modern Orchestra Project. Currently she is performing regularly with ensembles such as Albany Symphony Orchestra, Vermont Symphony Orchestra, Symphony New Hampshire, among others. She is also on Violin Faculty at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY and Weston Public Schools. Besides being an avid chamber music player, Aleksandra maintains a busy teaching studio, where her students have won prizes at the Roman Totenberg Competition for Young Artists, Boston Symphony Young Artist Competition, Russian Music Competition, ASTA Competition. As a teacher, Aleksandra has been awarded the Outstanding commitment to Music Education distinction by the Russian Music Festival Committee presented at the Lincoln Center in NYC.

A native of Romania, violinist Tudor Dornescu has obtained his Bachelors of Music in Violin performance from the National University of Music from Bucharest, Romania, studio of Gabriel Croitoru. During 2005-06, Mr. Dornescu was an “Erasmus” International Exchange student at the Cork School of Music in Ireland, where he studied with Adrian Petcu and Gregory Ellis. Upon his graduation from the National University of Music from Bucharest in 2007, Mr. Dornescu went to the US where he pursued his Masters Degree in Violin performance from Rice University, Shepherd School of Music in Houston, TX, studio of Sergiu Luca. In 2013 Mr. Dornescu has received his DMA in Violin performance from Boston University College of Fine Arts, under the guidance of Dana Mazurkevich.
A prize winner, Mr. Dornescu has participated in competitions such as the J.S. Bach Contest at Boston University, “G. Avakian” and the “Romantic Miniatures”, at which he received the highest honors. Mr. Dornescu has actively participated in masterclasses with world-renowned artists such as Ilya Kaler, Sergiu Schwartz, Sherban Lupu, Yuri Mazurkevich, Ken Aiso, Alberto Lyssy, Liviu Prunaru, Mariana Sarbu and many others. His most recent participations in summer festivals include the 2013 Castleton Music Festival, VA under the guidance of Maestro Lorin Maazel, the 2012 Duxbury Music Festival in Duxbury MA, the 2010 “Spoleto USA” (Charleston, SC) and the “Yehudi Menuhin Summer Academy” (Blonay, Switzerland). Tudor Dornescu has performed across the US and Europe in venues such as Kennedy Center (Washington, DC), Jordan Hall and Symphony Hall (Boston, MA), Zilkha Hall (Houston, TX), Concertgebow Amsterdam (Holland), National Concert Hall (Ireland), Romanian Atheneum and the National Radio Hall (Romania). Since 2007, Mr. Dornescu is an active freelance musician in the Boston area and performs regularly with ensembles such as the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Back Bay Chorale, Plymouth Philharmonic, Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra, Symphony New Hampshire and Harvard Radcliffe Choral Society, to name but a few. As a chamber musician, Mr. Dornescu performs regularly with the Mirage Violin Duo in numerous chamber music concert series such as Claflin Hill Alternatives Series and Composer Focus Series in Cambridge, MA. He has recently toured over 22 cities of China with the Mirage Violin Duo.
